About Terry Fields
Representative Terry L. Fields is a native of Jacksonville, Florida and a graduate of Florida A&M University with a B.S. degree in Political science and a minor in Mathematics. He completed his graduate work at Florida University in Public Administration and Finance.
Terry was elected to the Duval County Civil Service Board immediately following his graduate work after serving two terms and was elected to the Jacksonville City Council where he served for two consecutive terms. In addition, while elected he also worked as an Adjunct Instructor teaching Mathematics at Florida Community College at Jacksonville and as a Longshoremen at the Port of Jacksonville and where he was appointed as the Presidents Administrative Assistant Additionally, Terry's professional experience also includes having served as a consultant for the Administration Office for Minority and Inner City Recruitment at the University of North Florida. Finally, Terry has serves as the host and Political Commentator for the First Coast Views television political show.
Terry Fields serves on several Boards and Commissions and enjoys swimming, golf, reading, writing and attending Jaguar football games. He is the proud father of one son, who is attending the University of Florida and has authored two books: My American Promise, Passion, and Politics; and My American Dreams, Hopes, Ideas, and Motivation.
Terry Fields was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2000 where he earned the reputation as a stand-up leader who worked tirelessly on issues that matter to families and communities in Duval County and the state of Florida. He is passionate about key issues that include: dwindling funding for public and state school systems, increased violence which has compromised the safety of children and families throughout Florida neighborhoods, recidivism rates of criminals and need for effective rehabilitation for juvenile offenders, lack of quality health care for under employed and unemployed Floridians, skyrocketing health care and prescription drugs costs and its impact on the elderly, issues that impact middleclass and low income families and finally, the economic condition of America.
